I have an item where repair has been previously attempted (old glue, filler, paint, etc.) Can it be restored?
Yes. We frequently restore items where repair has been previously attempted. We can remove old filled areas and old paint. We can also separate previously glued items to create stronger, smoother bonds. The following pictures illustrate some of our work with old repairs.

While this white pitcher did not need to be unglued and re-set, it did need extensive cleaning to remove the glue-stained areas. From that point, the restoration proceeded as normal.

The small illustrated lamp was in very poor shape when it arrived. The glue bonds were weak and messy, it had been filled with a discolored, crumbling wax filler, and it was extremely dirty. The glue was removed, and the 15-plus pieces of the lamp base were reassembled. Missing areas were re-sculpted and missing detail in the scene was in-painted.
