What are the different types of repair?

Invisible Restoration: This is our specialty. It is a very labor intensive process that includes cleaning and removal of any old glue or repairs, rebonding the item, filling cracks and/or recreating missing areas, in-painting any lost detail and applying an appropriate gloss, satin or matte finish. Items appear virtually as if they were never damaged.

Partial Restoration: In an average partial restoration, items are rebonded and missing areas are filled and painted with the base color. Cracks are not filled.

Detail and finish are not recreated. The level of a partial restoration can be decided by the client and can be more or less of what is described here.

Rebonding: Pieces are reglued, but no further restoration is completed. Rebonded items can be invisibly restored at a later date.

Museum Restoration: Also known as an "honest" repair, pieces are rebonded, and missing areas are filled or recreated. Only the filled areas are painted, so none of the original material is covered. Damage is easily visible on close inspection. Museum restorations are nearly 100% reversible, which is appropriate for certain items.
